The New Guardians RP

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you all know I will be revamping the rules, application guidelines, and a few other things within the group so things are better clarified for those wishing to join and/or already accepted.

So no need to worry entirely too much, it’s simply small changes here and there.

Hey guys! As you know Sinestro (Carol) had to step down from being admin so I’m taking over for her. I’ll try and do the best I can.

I know we’ve been lax as far as activity and such. With school in full swing finally I can’t exactly blame any of you for being as absent as you’ve all been. It’s understandable that the first few weeks will be incredibly busy for a lot of you and I completely understand so don’t worry about being kicked from the group. Real life comes before roleplay!

With that being said, please understand that this is a group and I’d love to see at least some activity even in the least. I’ll be doing an activity check in about a week to see how school is treating you and to figure out how active we all will be together. In the mean time focus on your studies and come play with us when you have the time!

Also! For your convenience and so that you stay up to date on things be it announcements, characters, etc. I’m going to ask that you all please track these three tags:

After my first week at school, I’ve decided to step down from being admin of the New Guardians RP group. Hal/Saint Walker, the co-admin will now be running things. Honestly, while I have had a bit of homework this week I know once I get longer, harder, homework and projects I just won’t have time to run and maintain the group nor the energy.

I mean with the amount of work I’ll be getting, I’ll be frank and say I just don’t want to come on here and have to deal with the fact that half the group is still inactive and then try to figure out (again) how to fix that. I mean it’s not like there’s a lot of lantern rpers so kicking people out who are the worst offenders won’t do much good. 

So yeah, this doesn’t mean I’ll be deleting or leaving the group, I’ll still be in it but I will no longer be maintaining it but you know, it’d be lovely to check up on those few not on a hiatus and see interaction.

And yes I’m still on a hiatus for school.

Unfortunately, our current Atrocitus is unable to continue roleplaying due to real life obligations so the slot for the character has opened up!

 I’m sure most of you have noticed the lack of activity and I’ve decided to talk about it; now I’ll get straight to the point: if you can’t be active, if you can’t meet that minimum requirement of being active for a decent amount of time at least three days out of the week then please. Drop.

I am hoping to be able to start the setup for my Red Lantern Arc in about three to four weeks, depending on a couple of other key players and their schedules of course. As I announced a week or so ago, if you are interested in taking part in this arc let me know through a message on this post or in my ask so I can sort of plan on what to expect. I am planning for the revelation of Laira being recruited back into the Red Lantern Corps to hit on Halloween (that is my plan at the moment, at least; it is subject to change depending on my schedule and the schedule of other individuals).

How will the setup happen?

The setup is currently in planning between myself and two other users, though we have not discussed in further detail since it was suggested. I hope to be able to do that once I obtain a new laptop in a week or so and have access to Skype. As time draws closer for the event to begin, I will release more information (psa announcements and solo prose alike) and expand on other need-to-know details.

What will be the indication that Laira has been recruited into the Red Lanterns again?

Come September 30th, all contact with Laira is going to be lost. What does this mean? It means that any attempt to contact her through her ring (i.e. asks here on Tumblr) will fail. While this will indicate that something is incredibly wrong, it will not be known what has happened to Laira or why communication with her is failing.

Will this hinder any other threads that are going before this arc starts?

No. If I begin a thread with you before this arc begins, it will not stop it and Laira will not change in the middle of it. If need be, it can be tagged as a flashback or simply with an indication that it was started before contact with Laira was lost.

How will Laira’s recruitment be exposed to her friends?

It will all depend on the individual who would like to be the first to interact with her come October 31st. I do not plan to have her show up on Earth in the beginning. She will remain in space, either in or near her sector OR close to Ysmault. I have yet to decide which choice I will utilize. Given this information, I will admit that a Lantern of some sort would be the best option to come face-to-face with her. But, again, it will all depend on the individual that would like to make the discovery and expose it to others.

How long do you expect this arc to last?

As long as it needs to. I’m well aware that other people have lives outside of RPing (I’m a university student and thus my schedule often revolves around work/school) and I do not want to pressure individuals to be on a substantial amount of time just because I want to have an arc finished in a certain amount of days/weeks. My ideal end time would be the end of November or the beginning of December, but if it ends before or after that time, I’m completely fine with that. It’s not something that I’m going to completely stress out over. It’s just for fun, after all.

Seeing as Laira is going to be a Red Lantern again, how will the arc end?

The ending installment of the arc is going to require a Blue Lantern, of course, but also another individual that I have already discussed things with. It will end badly… or emotionally… however you really want to label it.

What sort of state will Laira be in as a Red Lantern?

Laira will return to the state that she was in during her run as a Red Lantern in the comics. This means that she will be back to a near animalistic state and will not hesitate to attack/kill whatever gets in her way.

If you have questions, concerns, or anything at all that you would like to know about, my ask box is open. If your question is too long for the character limit there, fanmail is unlimited on characters (at least to my knowledge). I’ll reply and try to answer to the best of my ability. Remember though, this is still in planning. Nothing, aside from the ending of the arc, is set in stone and is subject to change.

The estimated start date for it is the 16th. I hope to wrap things up by the 23rd. The tag will be “Stealing Las Vegas”.

The Setup:

Those who have been following Larfleeze over the months may have noticed he’s been on sorta good behavior. There’s been some slip ups, such as kidnapping Jason Todd, but all around, he’s been a good boy. That is going to end at the beginning of this event. A series of incidents will trigger him to have a full on relapse. These will be detailed in a series of one shots. First one will be posted on Friday, the 13th.

Larfleeze:

This is going to be a much more vicious Larfleeze. He is still going to be funny, he is still going to be over-the-top, but he is going to be very angry and very, very mean. He is going to be in full on I-don’t-give-a-fuck mode and his constructs will reflect that.

Larfleeze does have weaknesses. He might be powerful, but he isn’t invincible. He’s paranoid, easily distracted, and prone to overreacting. Mental attacks do work against him.

During this time, he will NOT be greeting new followers. He will NOT be responding to greetings either. I’m sorry, people, but he’s going to be involved in his own little world and won’t be in the mood to deal with anyone outside the event. I apologize in advance.

Constructs:

Once the dome is up, the constructs are going to be on the loose. They’re going to be looting, pillaging, and killing. There are going to be constructs on both inside and outside the barrier. Certain constructs are going to have NPC accounts and will be assigned to hunt and torment certain characters. The rest players can ghost themselves.

How the Orange Ring Works:

I have taken some liberties with the ring to make it more manageable in a RP setting. In the comics, the Orange Light can instantly adsorb all energy save for the Violet and Blue light, including magic.

In this RP, the Orange Light can still adsorb Lantern energies outside of the Blue and Violet. Red Lanterns’ acid vomit can eat away at his constructs. Indigo Tribesmen can channel Blue and Violet, so they’ll be useful in the fight.

It takes time for his ring to adjust and absorb non Lantern energies. The more you use a certain kind of power, the faster the constructs will adjust. Magic takes the longest for the ring to steal.

Also taking a note from Johns and have that the constructs are breakable. (Shown by Lobo when he smashed Sinestro’s construct against Sinestro’s face.) It does take a great deal of force, but it can be done. They’re also trappable.

Orange Light can be stolen by devices designed to absorb energy. (See the current Blue Beetle series.)

Anyone killed by an Orange Lantern has their identity stolen by the light. They become new OLs. Since the constructs will be killing civilians, expect a bunch of OLs.

The ring creates the same standard ring stuff, force fields, energy blasts, etc. The Orange Light is Greed based, not will. The more Larfleeze wants something, the stronger his constructs get. His ring has a very high charge limit, up to one hundred thousand, so him running out of energy is unlikely.

Team Inside:

Along with Larfleeze’s Corps wreaking havoc, there is going to be a citywide panic. There will be looters and other unsavory types lurking about. Team Inside’s main goal is survival. How and what they do to reach that is up to them. They can try to help the civilians, join in on the looting, or focus on keeping their own asses safe.

WHY YOUR CHARACTER WAS IN VEGAS IN THE FIRST PLACE IS UP TO YOU.

Team Outside:

Your goal is breaking the barrier. There will be Orange Lanterns out there, trying to stop you.

Do I have your attention? I better, or you’re joining my Corps!

The construct-to-be known as my mod wants to run a mini event starring me, the great Lord Larfleeze. It centers around me conquering the glorious city of Las Vegas. There will be action, comedy, and most importantly, me…and that fat lard Glomulus, but who cares about him?! Before she proceeds further in plotting this event, she wants to see if anyone is interested in being involved.

Now, let me go over what details she has available. I will entrap the city in an impenetrable dome of orange light. There will be two teams:

1. The Inside group. These poor beggars will have to deal with the chaos of a panicking populace, my constructs, and me.
2. The Outside group. Their job will be to try to break the dome and get inside.

If you’re interested in joining, send an ask, submit, or fanmail. In the note,  list which team you desire to be on: Inside or Outside. If you are picking Inside, then expect to have your life consumed until the end of the event or destruction of the dome. Whichever comes first.
